As Most of you know the old farm house we purchased at the end of 2012 has had plenty of updating but still needs a lot of work.

TONS of potential! (It’s why we feel in love) – Okay, I feel in love with the “Art Studio” first, then the house :)

Like I said, plenty to do but at the top of the list are:

Stairway Project – Stay tuned

Wes’s Bedroom – Stay Tuned

Kitchen Updating:

Here’s a glimpse at the kitchen on Closing Day:

I have to say – this Hubby of Mine sure knows how to spoil the Mother of his Children :)

We took a day of shopping and came home with these two SAMSUNG beauties :)

This last weekend (Before I came down with the flu)

Greg started removing and cabinets so we could install the DISHWASHER!

We ordered some additional cabinets at Lowes to fill in some spaces in the uppers as well as a lower next to the new DISHWASHER. (I mean really, you can never have enough cabinet space!) In the above picture, Greg is removing a base cabinet to move next to the stove where an antique cabinet was sitting. I of course have that cabinet on my LONG list of to-do Re-Purposings… But for now that antique cabinet has been rolled next to my desk for office storage. – Just perfect! The lower cabinet (Pictured above) was placed with the remaining butcher block next to the stove. (More pics to come)

If you notice in this picture Greg is sawing the base cabinet. Well, that is because after 20 minutes of him and I prying and pulling we realized that when the cabinets were installed they were screwed together from the top. (before the counter tops were installed) Since we are not yet ready to replace the counter tops our only option was to saw those screws from in between. (We’ve learned the hard way before about taking counter tops out before we really needed to – It left me for 6 weeks with 3 kids, no counters and no sinks!) Thankfully, the hubs did a pretty good job of not scratching them I must say. I always get nervous when he starts grunting and huffing and then stomps out to the shop and brings back a saw, slams the case on the floor, plugs it in and starts cutting. It usually means he’s out of patience and will do whatever it takes to get the darn piece out that he’s working on! This time, thanks to a little experience it went rather smooth.

You must know it is at this point I have learned to shut my mouth and walk into the other room until he is done. There is NO point in arguing tactics at this stage in the game.

So as for now, the cabinets have been switched the dishwasher is in place (Not hooked up yet) and we are awaiting the arrival of the NEW cabinets on Feb 8th! Then once they are installed the DISHWASHER can be hooked up.

This weekend’s project will consist of Wiring Wes’s Bedroom – Which is a HUGE room that will be converted into part Hallway, 2 Closets and a Finished Bedroom. (More on what Wes’s room used to be and what it looks like prior to all of this – you won’t believe it!)

Here’s to hoping that all goes smoothly because the wiring needs to get done before the insulation gets blown into the attic. :)

Happy Hump Day Everyone!

Kali
